About

The City of Knoxville is conducting a transportation study to evaluate connectivity between Downtown and South Knoxville. The study will analyze travel patterns, traffic operations, system reliability, and multimodal access to better understand how people move between these areas today.

Using transportation data along with information from residents and travelers, the study will assess how the closure of the Gay Street Bridge has affected access across the river and identify opportunities for low-cost, high-impact improvements that could enhance travel and connectivity.

The results will help guide the City’s future transportation investments to support safe, reliable access between Downtown and South Knoxville for residents, businesses, and visitors.
